About Us
Our Approach to System Evaluation and Design
In both large and small organizations, including for-profits, non-profits and governmental organizations, there needs to be a fit between the organization which will procure, design, use and maintain a mission-critical system, and the system itself. Put another way, overbuilding, over-complicating, and stakeholder under-involvement can lead to choosing and customizing a system that will not deliver the results that the organization wants and needs. Written requirements, then, are not, by themselves, always sufficient to be the criteria against which a vendor’s proposal must be evaluated. The RFP's requirements - and the vendor and the vendor’s product - must be evaluated against a deep understanding of the organization – its people, its customers, its culture, its way of doing business.
Our history
IT Solutions InSight was created to help clients design and manage Information Technology systems based on three principles.
Those principles are that, to be effective, IT solutions must be:
- Simple,
- Unentangled, and
- Intuitive
Experience has taught us that in the tech world, "experts" can lose sight of the real world, and draw clients past a point of increasing marginal utility.
We help clients focus on what works for them, not in theory, but in fact, in their organizations and for all their stakeholders.
John Bell
John Bell offers an unusual combination of (a) technical understanding of the design and functionality of various IT systems and software, (b) hands-on experience in the use by managers and line-staff of such systems, and (c) management of the processes through which both Custom-Built and Off-The-Shelf systems are evaluated, contracted, customized, tested, implemented (including through the preparation and provision of training) and maintained.
